I always have my jazz to play but I mix in the main theme from James Bond – I also keep some Sinatra close by

I prefer not to have music on, especially not something that’s going to ‘pump you up’

To do well in poker you need to be able to make calculated decisions based on a number of different factors. Being ‘pumped up’ is not conducive to clear, rational thought. You’ll be more likely to make rash, emotion based decisions if you’re fired up.

Emotion is best saved for your partner and not the poker room.

    “Fuel” by Metallica.

    Anything by AC/DC.

A few songs by Ludacris pump me up.

“Lose Yourself” by Eminem. (I think that’s what it is called–the song from his movie 8 Mile)

As you can see I have diverse musical tastes. I like to listen to these before tournaments and on occasion during games. Sometimes I turn off the I-Pod but sometimes I like to listen to some tunes as background music. Puts me in a great mood to crush everyone at my table.
